Spiti Valley
The Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain valley located high in the Himalaya Mountains in the north-eastern part of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The name "Spiti" means "The Middle Land", i.e. the land between Tibet and India. The valley and surrounding region is one of the least populated regions in India and is the gateway to the northernmost reaches of the nation. Spiti valley is a research and cultural center for Buddhists. Highlights include Key Monastery and Tabo Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in the world and a favorite of the Dalai Lama.

Daywise Itinerary
Arrive at Chandigarh Airport early in the morning. Drive to Narkanda which is about 173kms away. Narkanda is a relatively unexplored hill station located just 1.5 km from the famous Hatu Peak.
Check-in at the hotel. Overnight at Narkanda.
After an early breakfast, visit Hatu peak and Hatu Mata Mandir. Depart for Sangla. Check in at Kinner Camps, Sangla. Explore the surroundings around the camp. Enjoy soup around a Campfire, followed by dinner.
Overnight at Kinner Camps.
Early morning wake-up. Get ready for the glacier walk. Leave camp by 9:30 am. On the way visit Batseri village & Lord Badrinarayan temple, and trek up to glacier point.
Post lunch, depart for an excursion to Chitkul (20 km) - the last village on the old Indo - Tibetan trade route. A short 1.5km walk from Chitkul is Nagasti, which is the last civilian point on the Tibetan border. Chitkul is famous all over the world for its potatoes. Walk through green orchards & beautiful streams.
Drive to Rakcham village. Trek and explore Rakchham valley. Return by evening for some leisure at the camp.
Wake up early in the morning to the sound of birds humming & water gushing down the river near the camp. You can choose to meditate in the Yoga Camp set up at the camp or one can simply get ready for a quick morning walk with our guide at the camp.
Post breakfast, you can indulge yourself in the local fishing technique near to the camp. Here, we provide you with anglers for fishing in the river all by yourself. Please note that this activity will be at an additional nominal cost, which is to be paid at the campsite itself. Lunch will be arranged at the spot of Fishing. Post activity, return to the camp. You can indulge yourself in some adventure activities like rappelling, rock climbing, and river crossing, which will be at a nominal cost to be paid on the spot. The evening is free for leisure & relaxation.
Dinner and Overnight at the camp.
After breakfast, check-out from Kalpa & drive to Nako. En-route, we take a halt at Khab village. Khab Sangam is the confluence of the Spiti River and Sutlej River. Welcome to Spiti Valley - with few signs of vegetation. Yet, this land renders visitors speechless with its harsh raw beauty of the landscape. Rudyard Kipling describes Spiti in “Kim” in these words: “At last they entered a world within a world - a valley of leagues where the high hills were fashioned of the mere rubble & refuse from off the knees of the mountains…surely the Gods live here."
Arrive at Nako & check-in to Kinner Camps.
Visit Nako Lake – Kinnaur's most picturesque hamlets. Nako is slated to be declared a heritage village built around a small lake. It has an important Buddhist Qompa which is 1000 yrs. old, & a small temple. A footprint-like impression on a rock is ascribed to the saint Guru Padmasambhava.

Post an early breakfast, we leave for Kaza. A short drive away is the Giu mummy lama temple. Next, proceed to visit Dhankar Gompa, the traditional capital of Spiti, which sits pretty on a hilltop. The hill-top fort that overlooks the Spiti Valley also used to serve as a jail in olden days. Today, more than 160 Lamas reside here. A statue of Dhyan Buddha, where four complete figures of Buddha sit back to back, is the main attraction of this older than 7 Th century monastery. Continue your drive to Kaza – the Capital of Spiti Valley. Arrive at Kaza & check-in to your hotel.

Post breakfast, we start the day by exploring the other side of Spiti in the Pine Valley area. Pin Valley is popularly known as a photographer’s paradise for the vibrant landscapes and beauty it beholds. One can relax in the middle of these majestic mountains. Mud Village, on the other hand, is a very small village nestled in the Pin valley of Spiti. One can interact and take a walk around the village in order to understand and explore the culture of this region. Post that, a visit to Kungri Monastery & Sangnak Gompa.
Overnight & Dinner at KAZA.
After an early breakfast by 7 a.m., leave for an excursion to the Ki Monastery (approx. 15 km). Situated at the foot of steep ridges & on the left bank of the river Spiti is the Ki Monastery, which is the Biggest Gelupa Sect Monastery in Spiti. Its hilltop position points to a post-13th-century construction. The three-storied structure consists largely of storage rooms at the bottom level, while the middle floor houses the Dukhang (the Assembly Hall), & the uppermost floor has another temple & the head Lama’s quarters on one side of an open terrace. The greatest wealth of Ki Gompa lies in its collection of ‘Thangkas’. Hundreds of Lamas receive their religious training in this monastery, & it is famous for its ancient murals & books. From here, a scenic drive takes you into the pasture country of Kibber. From Kibber, the pastures are spread over hundreds of square kilometers. Return back to Kaza for dinner & an overnight stay. Next, proceed to visit Hikkim, Komic & Langza.
Komik is Highest motorable village in Asia at 15,027 feet, 18Kms from Kaza. The village is about 500yrs old. Next, brace yourself to send a postcard to your friends & family from the highest post office in the world at Hikkim 14,400 feet. Last but not the least, Langaz is yet another beautiful village nestled in the picturesque landscape of Spiti. The village is dominated by the majestic Buddha statue right in the lap of the Himalayas.
Post-excursion, get back to the hotel for overnight stay at Kaza.
After an early breakfast, check-out from the hotel. The motorable road ends a couple of kms before the lake. A short trek takes you to Lake Chandrataal. Have a picnic lunch on the banks of the lake. Spend some time at Chandrataal. Here, you have an option to spend the night at a campsite near Chandrataal Lake. Dinner & Overnight at Chandrataal camps.
After an early breakfast, check-out from the hotel & drive to Manali via the Kunzumla Pass which, at 4590 mts, is the highest pass on the Spiti Lahaul Road. Rudyard Kipling said of the region "Surely the Gods live here, this no place for Men". Most of the Government offices are located at Keylong. Enjoy the scenic drive through Battal - Chattru - Gramphu towards Rohtang Pass. Check-in and relax after the journey. Arrive at Manali & check-in to your hotel.
Today, the exhaustive trip concludes with unforgettable memories. Post breakfast, check out of the hotel in Manali. Depart for Chandigarh to catch your flight back home.

Registration
The tour booking will be confirmed only upon receipt of a non-refundable amount of 20% of the tour cost, in addition to the charges such as air fares, rail fares, etc. along with completed personal information form or an email confirming your intent to travel.
- 50% of the tour cost to be paid 45 days before date of departure.
- Balance 30% of the tour cost to be paid 15 days prior to the departure.
- The trip will be considered as confirmed only if there is no default in the above payment procedure.
Cancellation Policy
In the event of any cancellation by you, the initial deposit amount paid, shall stand forfeited and further cancellation shall be levied as per the following terms:
- 6 weeks before date of departure: 20% of tour cost + Air / Rail cancellation charges.
- 4 to 6 weeks before date of departure: 50% of tour cost + Air / Rail cancellation charges.
- 2 to 4 weeks before date of departure: 80% of tour cost + Air / Rail cancellation charges.
- 2 weeks before date of departure: 100% of tour cost + Air / Rail cancellation charges (Will be considered as no show).
All dispute arising under or in connection with it, shall be governed by the laws then prevailing in India, and shall be under the jurisdiction of the courts in Sangli.
*During peak season some hotel bookings are non-refundable. Hence, in such a case the amount paid will not be refunded.
Refund Policy
Payments will be refunded within 10 to 15 working days after cancellation through a bank transfer.
Liability:
1. Certain trips organised by Jungle Lore may require various levels of physical fitness and travellers must ensure that they understand the level and nature of physical activity, fitness and endurance required for a chosen tour prior to the commencement of the same.
2. Travellers should keep in mind that certain tours are organised in places where medical assistance may not be easily available, so those dependant on medicines should stock up.
3. Travellers should ensure that prior joining a chosen trip, to the best of their knowledge they are not suffering from any medical or physical ailment or condition that compromises their ability to undertake and complete the same.
4. Jungle Lore, its owners and employees would not be responsible for any loss, liability, damage, expenses, injury, sickness or death occasioned to a fellow travellers except for lack of provision of amenities, services and infrastructure which are to be provided by the organisers themselves as described on www.junglelore.net. The organisers would not be responsible for such liabilities arising out of acts of god, earthquake, flood, storm, fire, rain, landslide, government restrictions, strikes or bandhs, defect of motor vehicles, acts of third party, external aggression, law and order disturbances, negligence of any travellers or travellers failing to heed the instructions of the organisers / activity guides, any risks that are normally attendant on a particular activity and any matters that are outside the control of the organisers.
5. Tours are subject to weather and natural conditions which are beyond the control of the organisers. To ensure the safety of the travellers it may be necessary to cancel or postpone a tour (or any part thereof) after the tour has been paid for by the travellers. Reimbursements of payments in such cases will be subject to the fixed costs of the tour barring which all other amounts will be reimbursed.
