ITINERARY

Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1 - Bagdogra - Manebhajan - Tunglu

Pick up from the Bagdogra Airport at 12.30 PM & transfer to Manebhanjan. Lunch on the way.
Reach Manebhanjan by 4.00pm & have evening snacks there.
We will take the safari Land Rovers, porters, permits and start around 4.30 pm to Tunglu
Reach Tunglu by 6.30 pm
Night stay at Tunglu

Note - Basic stay in Government cottage and dorms.

DAY 2 & 3 - Tunglu - Gairibus

Start from Tunglu after morning tea around 6am to Gairibus.
**This is a downhill hike and the area is great to find species like Satyr Tragopan, Clouded Leopard, Fire tailed Myzornis, green tailed sunbirds, fire tailed sunbirds, and different types of fulvettas.
We plan to reach Gairibus Lodge by 1pm and have lunch there.
Sun downers, evening discussions and night stay at Gairibus.
An extra day in Gairibus for exploring more trails as the chances of red panda sightings increase dramatically here.

DAY 4 - Gairibus to Kalpokhri (185 Kms- 6 Hours)

Half day birding around Gairibus.
Post lunch check out from Gairibus and start moving to Kalpokhri.
Reach Kalpokhri by 6pm and overnight stay at Govt rest house and dorms

**The areas we access from Garibus onwards are great habitats for Mammals that include Red Panda, Himalayan black bear, Himalayan serow, Barking deer, Yellow throated martins, Malayan giant Squirrels etc.

DAY 5 - Kalpokhri to Sandakphu

Early morning trek to Sandakphu from Kalphokri ( 7 hrs ). Upon arrival in Sandakhphu we spend the night in Sherpa Castle.

**This is the one of tough parts of the trek in this region as the terrain is uphill.

DAY 6 - Sandakphu

Watch the Sunrise from Sandakphu at 5 AM.Visit Phalut, a haven for wildlife and come back to Sandakphu by evening.
Night Stay at Sandakphu.

**From Sandakphu, you get a 180 degree view of the Eastern Himalayas, with ranges that belong to Nepal on the west, Sikkim and Bhutan in the middle and Arunachal Pradesh in the east. As the first sunlight strikes, you will see the dazzling peaks like Mt. Everest , Lhotse (27940 ft., the fourth highest peak) and Mt. Makalu (27,825 ft., the fifth highest peak). If you look further west, you will see the Chamlang (24,006 ft.) that stands like a square wall of snow. To the east we see the prominent peaks of Kanchenjunga family (summit 28,156 ft., the third highest peak in the world). Other peaks close to Kanchenjunga include Kabru (24,026 ft.), Kumbhakarna (25,294 ft.) and Pandim (22,010 ft.). Between Everest and Kanchenjunga you will see the peaks of Three Sisters.

DAY 7 - Sandakphu to Kalpokhri

Birding around Sandakphu and lunch. Post lunch check out from Sandakhphu and start moving to Kalapokhri. Evening birding session around the lake & Night Stay at Kalapokhri.

**The areas from Garibus to Sandakhphu, Phalut and Kalapokhri are great habitats for rare birds like Blood pheasant around Sandakphu top, various types of finches, fly catchers, redstarts, Himalayan Monal and parrot bills.

DAY 8 - Kalapokhri to Garibas (185 Kms- 6 Hours)

Birding around Kalapokhri and depart for Garibas post breakfast.
Evening birding session around Gairibus and night Stay at Garibas.

Day 9 - Departure

Post breakfast check out from Gairibus and back to Bagdogra and evening flights back home.
