ABOUT SPITI VALLEY 

The land between India and Tibet – literally translates as ‘The Middle Land’. A desert mountain valley located in the Himalayas, it is one of the least populated regions, having an ancient and deep-rooted Buddhist culture.

DETAILED ITINERARY – 8 NIGHTS / 9 DAYS

DAY 1 – 10th August : CHANDIGARH TO KOTGARH ( 199 Kms - 6/7 Hours ) 

We take the flight to Chandigarh. Upon arrival we depart for Kotgarh. The drive will take about 6 -7 Hours. 

Surrounded by picturesque villages, enticing apple orchards and dense forest cover, the quaint towns of Thanedar-Kotgarh are endowed with a unique old-world charm, pristine beauty, and crisp, clean air to tranquilize the soul. 

Dinner and overnight stay at the cozy homestay. 

DAY 2 –  11th August : KOTGARH TO NAKO ( 231 Kms - 9 / 10 Hours) 

Post breakfast, depart for Nako. It will take about 9 - 10 Hours to reach Nako. 

En-route, we take a halt at Khab village. Khab sangam is the confluence of the Spiti river and Sutlej river.

Welcome to Spiti Valley – with few signs of vegetation. Yet, this land renders visitors speechless with its harsh raw beauty of the landscape. Rudyard Kipling describes Spiti in “Kim” in these words: “At last they entered a world within a world – a valley of leagues where the high hills were fashioned of the mere rubble & refuse from off the knees of the mountains…surely the Gods live here.”

Arrive at Nako & check-in to Kinner Camps.

Visit Nako Lake :  Kinnaur’s most picturesque hamlets. Nako is slated to be declared a heritage village built around a small lake. It has an important Buddhist Qompa which is 1000 yrs old, & a small temple. A footprint like impression on a rock is ascribed to the saint Guru Padmasambhava.

DAY 3 - 12th August : NAKO to KAZA (110km)

We move on further to explore Tabo – also known as the ‘Ajanta of the Himalayas’. Visit the Tabo monastery. A short drive away is the Giu mummy lama temple. Next, proceed to visit Dhankar Gompa, the traditional capital of Spiti, which sits pretty on a hilltop. We head to Kaza for overnight stay.

DAY 4 – 13th August : KI – KIBBER 

After an early breakfast, Check out from Kaza hotel & we leave for an excursion to the Ki Monastery (approx. 15 km), situated at the foot of steep ridges on the left bank of the river Spiti. From here, a scenic drive takes you into the pasture country of Kibber. From Kibber, the pastures are spread over hundreds of square kilometres. 

Evening is free to explore the surroundings.

DAY 5 – 14th August : LANGZA - HIKKIM - KOMIC

Post breakfast, check out from Kaza & head for Langza. Proceed to visit Hikkim & Komic.

Komik is Highest motorable village in Asia at 15,027 feet, 18Kms from Kaza. The village is about
500yrs old. Next, brace yourself to send a postcard to your friends & family from the highest post office in
the world at Hikkim 14,400 feet. Last but not the least, Langaz is yet another beautiful village nestled in the picturesque
landscape of Spiti. The village is dominated by the majestic Buddha statue right in the lap of the
Himalayas.

Post excursion, get back to Langza for overnight stay at a homestay.

DAY 6 – 15th August : LANGZA TO CHANDRATAL (85km) 

After an early breakfast, check-out from the hotel. Motor able road ends a couple of kms before the lake. A short trek takes you to Lake Chandrataal. Have a picnic lunch on the banks of the lake. Spend some time at Chandrataal.

Day 7 - 16th August :  CHANDRATAAL TO MANALI (126km)

Leave early morning for Manali. Enjoy the scenic drive through Battal – Chattru – Gramphu towards Rohtang Pass. Check-in and relax after the journey. Evening is free for exploring the market and shopping.

DAY 8 –  17th August : MANALI to CHANDIGARH (370Km)

Today, we come to the last leg of our trip, as we say goodbye to Spiti and start our journey home. After the long drive, stay overnight at Chandigarh.

DAY 9 –  18th August : DEPARTURE FROM CHANDIGARH

Depart for home, with wonderful memories of the ‘Desert Mountain Valley’.

  • Accommodation on twin sharing at all places
  • Dinner & Breakfast on all days

  • Inner liner permits, entry fees, taxes, parking & toll

Cost Does Not Includes : 

  • Cost for supplementary services.
  • Cost for Airfare, Train fare, Insurance Premiums.
  • Cost for service provided on a personal request.
  • Cost for personal expenses such as laundry, bottled water, soft drinks, incidentals, porter charges, tips etc.
  • Cost for any other service not mentioned under the “Cost Includes” head.
  • Difference in cost arising due to change in Taxes by the Government which will have to be collected directly ON ARRIVAL.
  • Difference in cost arising due to mishaps, political unrest, natural calamities. In such case extra will have to be paid on the spot by the guest directly.

Cancellation Policy:

In the event of any cancellation by you, the initial deposit amount paid, shall stand forfeited and further cancellation shall be levied as per the following terms:

- 6 weeks before date of departure: 20% of tour cost + Air / Rail cancellation charges.
- 4 to 6 weeks before date of departure: 50% of tour cost + Air / Rail cancellation charges.
- 2 to 4 weeks before date of departure: 80% of tour cost + Air / Rail cancellation charges.
- 2 weeks before date of departure: 100% of tour cost + Air / Rail cancellation charges (Will be considered as no show).
