 ABOUT SANGLA VALLEY & KINNER CAMPS 

Surrounded by forested slopes in the higher Himalaya range, it is named after the serene Sangla village. Until 1989 outsiders could not enter the valley without a special permit from the Government of India, due to its strategic position on the Indo-Tibet/China border . The Baspa river meanders through the valley and is famed for trout fishing. With magnificent views of slopes forested with pine nut orchards, Royal red apples and cherry trees Sangla Valley stands apart. 

Kinner Camps (2800 m) nestled in Sangla valley of the Kinnaur Himalayas. Home to one of the oldest tribal societies. Kinnaur, presents an enchanting experience through its uninhibited adherence to traditional lifestyle, custom, and costumes. Sangla Valley is surrounded by lust green slopes & offers stunning view of the high Himalayan snow capped mountains. 

The only camp in the valley to be run by local professionals. It sits comfortably amidst apple orchards. Kinner camps is a five minute walk from the stunning Baspa River which flows through Sangla Valley & eventually meets the mighty Satluj at Karcham. 

Our camp offers luxury tents furnished with attached bath & all amenities, multi cuisine restraint serving Indian, Chinese and continental food and a multitude of other activities like Rock climbing, rappelling, nature trails, bird watching, river crossing and many more!

 

Detailed Itinerary : 7 Nights/ 8 Days

Day 1: 2nd June : CHANDIGARH TO NARKANDA (180KM – 7/8 Hours)

We take the flight to Chandigarh. Upon arrival we depart for Narkanda (180 kms - 6 hours). We halt at the picturesque resort. 

Dinner and overnight stay at the resort. 

Day 2: 3rd June : NARKANDA TO KALPA (150km – 7/8 Hours)

Post breakfast at Narkanda we depart for Kalpa (150 kms and takes about 6-7 hours). We visit the famed Hatu Peak (10420 ft). It also houses the ancient Hatu Mata temple. The peak offers a spectacular view of the entire Himalayan ranges, snow clad mountains and in depths are the dense forests, green fields and apple orchards. The drive is through the beautiful lands of Karcham, Powari and Recong Peo. Besides the amazing close-up view of the Kinner Kailash range, Kalpa also offers a wonderful market walk. Dinner and overnight stay at Kalpa Hotel. 

Day 3 : 4th June : KALPA - LOCAL SIGHTSEEING 

Post breakfast, start exploring Kalpa. Sight sightseeing in Kalpa is all about gazing in utter amazement at the stunning view of Kinner. Kalpa is surrounded by apple orchards and forests of chilgoza pines, and the air is clean and crisp. We visit the famous suicide point & walk around the beautiful Rohgi Village. 

Hindu temples, Buddhist monasteries and gompas stick out like Christmas decorations on the mountain slopes and makes for an interesting sight.

DAY 4: 5th June : KALPA TO SANGLA (60Km) -  VISIT CHITKUL & RAKCHAM VILLAGE 

Post breakfast, we drive down to Sangla Valley. Sangla valley, also known as the Baspa Valley is a lush green valley nestled in the himalayas. 

We'll be staying at Kinner Camps at Sangla. At a height of 2,700 mts the camp is surrounded by towering mountains on all sides and is on the banks of the Baspa river that surges through the valley. 

Post lunch at the camp, we visit Chitkul village, about 28 kms away from Sangla Valley at an altitude of 3450 mtrs. Chitkul is the last inhabited place in India before the Indo-Tibet border. The magical beauty which this village offers is unmatched and incomparable. Chitkul remains closed in winters and is extremely famous for its potatoes in the whole world. From Chitkul, a short trek takes you to Nagasti, the last civilian outpost on the Indo-China border. Evening you are free to explore the surroundings.

Dinner & Overnight at Sangla. 

Day 5: 6th June : SANGLA KANDA EXCURSION

Post breakfast, we leave for a trek to glacier point. Morning visit Sangla Kanda by 4X4 for life time off-road experience. back to the campsite for lunch. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Sangla Kanda excursion is done with a 4 x 4 Vehicle. The drive takes about an hour, to reach atop the meadow. Here, one can enjoy the spectacular views of the entire valley & majestic Kinner Kailash Peak. Since Kanda is traditionally known as a shepherd’s trail, you may come across heard of sheep’s spread across the lush green meadow.

One can trek with the shepherds, sit by the lake, meditate or simply enjoy the packed lunch alongside the beautiful view.

Post excursion, return to the camp. Evening is free for leisure & relaxation.

DAY 6: 7th June :  BATSERI VILLAGE, TREK TO GLACIER POINT & KAMROO FORT 

Wake up early morning to witness the gorgeous sunrise. After breakfast,  Leave camp by 10 am. On the way visit Batseri village & Lord Badrinarayan temple, then experience the walk on the glacier.

Return to camp for lunch. Post lunch, go to Kamroo village, visit the fort, and Kamakhya devi temple, the deity of which was originally brought from Assam. 

Come back to camp for tea. Rest of the evening is free for leisure.

DAY 7 : 8th June : SANGLA TO SHIMLA ( 7/ 8 Hours - 230 km)

Wake up early to witness the stunning sunrise bathing of Kinner Kailash peaks. After an early breakfast, we leave the gorgeous Valley and leave for Shimla (7-8 hrs drive).

Overnight at hotel.

DAY 8 : 9th June : SHIMLA TO CHANDIGARH (102 km)

Post breakfast, depart for Chandigarh to catch flight back home.
