Why should you visit Sunderbans :
Sunderbans- The Land of Adaptations
Heavy tidal effects, sedimentation, cyclones and the dynamic changing landscape ensures all species practice amazing feats of adaptation to survive in the Sunderbans. ecosystem.
Tigers of Sunderbans have varied and unusual diet and have been documented eating crabs, fishes and occasionally attacks humans who infiltrate the restricted area for fish, crab and honey collection.
Spotted deer are mainly grazers in any other habitat but in Sunderbans they are mainly browsers. Like tigers, they have adapted to tolerate water and swim pretty often to go from one island to another.
Rhesus macaques have adapted to digest mangrove leafs, fruits, flower, seeds. They also eat crabs and fishes. Here you will often see Rhesus macaques eating soft and tender part of the salt water grasses.
While some mangrove roots stop the intake excessive salt from the water before it reaches the plant, some have far-reaching, exposed roots that allow oxygen to be transferred to the roots trapped below ground in areas where there is limited oxygen in the soil.
While some Mangrove leaves have glands that excrete salt, some allow the mangrove to conserve its fresh water ability and some can even turn to reduce the surface area of the leaf exposed to the hot sun to reduce water loss.
There are 65 species of crabs, some that can climb trees when the tide rises while Mud skippers are from the fish family but behave like amphibians and also climb trees when needed.
No Safari Timings in particular, you are on a safari all the time.
